Abstract
All the steps underlying the finite element method, i.e. calculation of the matrix of the coefficients [C], and solution of the linear system, are analysed; consequently, some algorithms are carried out to speed up the whole finite element computation process. These algorithms have been implemented on a package previously carried out at the Polytechnic of Bari. The new package, which is useful for studying both electrostatic and current field problems, has been applied to the study of the 3-D current field generated by leakage grounding grids.
