Abstract
A foreign minor lymphocyte stimulating (MIs) antigen recognized in the context of MHC class II products on B cells and macrophages will induce T-cell responses.1,2 We now appreciate that MIs products function as superantigens3 and are encoded by mouse tumor viruses.4 T cell dependent B cell activation involves several signaling steps, which despite some clarification, remain to be elucidated.5 Some adhesins appear to be involved as well as class II molecules, surface Ig and lymphokines.5 We employ anti-IgM and Mlsa- specific cloned lymphokine non-secreting T-cell lines6–9 to examine the requirements for this type of activation to B-cell proliferation.
