Abstract
Alpha motoneurones and muscle spindle sensory neurones are closely linked functionally. Here we present evidence from cat that they share also a common dependency on target innervation: their functional properties are altered when they are deprived of target tissue, and these properties are in large measure rescued when the neurones regenerate into either hairy skin or into muscle.
