Abstract
Fast-tracking patients through a system is familiar to health care providers. Recently, however, the concept has been applied to areas of healthcare that have otherwise been managed in a more traditional model. Fast-tracking cardiac surgical patients, especially for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) was introduced at Baystate Medical Center in January 1992.
