Canada’s Tobacco Demand Reduction Strategy

  • Kay Stanley

Abstract

During the last 30 years, our government has fought tobacco use through public education, support for smoking cessation programs, and legislation. We have banned tobacco advertising, mandated health warnings on cigarette packages and restricted smoking to certain public places. Canada has also taxed tobacco products heavily to deter people from buying them.
