The Tobacco Education Clearinghouse of California: A Model for Supporting the Information and Materials Needs of Community Programs

Abstract

A central resource such as a clearinghouse can accomplish the following objectives to support community—based programs: (a) facilitate the sharing of information, materials and resources among community programs; (b) minimize duplication of efforts; (c) reduce materials costs to projects; (d) identify outstanding materials to be shared with other projects; (e) assess needs and identify gaps in needed materials; and (f) assist community program staff in increasing their skills and knowledge.
