Abstract

Background and goal of study: Little is known about oxygen delivery and consumption in the septic state under experimental conditions in animals, if macrocirculation is supported as it is done in human patients, i.e. with therapy like norepinephrin and volume. Therefore this study was performed to investigate the influence of norepinephrine in the treatment of the early septic shock on the oxygen supply, tissue pO2 and lactate extraction rate of the liver.
