Abstract
It is a privilege to be here, among so many who have helped to define the discipline of the systems sciences. For many scholars in this field, one of the great challenges of systems thinking has been to find practical applications for the ideas. That hasn’t been a problem for us. At Global Futures and the Future 500, our mission is to resolve conflict and forge partnerships between business, environmental, and social objectives. Over the years, we found that in the process of eliminating conflict, we had to think of business and the economy in terms of systems.
