Abstract
The McClellan Nuclear Radiation Center (MNRC) is located 8 miles from downtown Sacramento, and 10 miles from the University of California Davis Medical Center. The MNRC’s reactor is a TRIGA reactor design with light water as the primary coolant and moderator and graphite as the reflector. It began operation in January 1990 and was upgraded (June, 1997) to operate powers up to 2MW, making it the youngest and the highest powered TRIGA reactor in the United States.
