Abstract
More than three out of four Americans can expect to be exposed to a traumatic event at least once in their lives. Conservative estimates, made before the tragic events of September 11th, also suggest that one in four Americans exposed to a traumatic event will develop chronic or at least transient symptoms of PTSD
