Histological Alterations in Macrobrachium Panamensis Caused by Probopyrus Sp.

  • Chapter

Abstract

The histological damage caused by Probopyrus sp. to the gills of Macrobrachium panamensis is presented. A cellular lysis in the branchial branches was found in all the cases examined, suggesting that the bopyrids feed directly from the hosts tissues and hemolymph.
