Abstract
Fitzgerald, Swan and Magley (1997) discuss two major types of sexual harassment. First, quid pro quo harassment includes advancement, hiring or compensatory gain provisional on sexual interactions. It can also include demotion, firing or financial loss provisional on withholding of sexual interactions. The second and more common form of sexual harassment involves the creation of sexually hostile environment. Conte (1997) provides these examples of hostile environment harassment: offensive or explicit signs, calendars, literature, photographs, graffiti and verbal conduct. Thus, an offensive environment can be created by verbal or non-verbal behaviors.
