Abstract

Most economic activity from power stations and industrial locations to selecting an appropriate date for the beginning of the end-of-the-season sales is affected by weather and climate. There are many branches of industry, tourism, and agriculture that directly depend on weather or are season related. Applied climatology provides relevant climate data for economic enterprises, both civilian and military, to improve their choice of location and better time their activities. In effect, the entire book provides or refers to climatic information for both theoreticians and practitioners. Some of its sections deal directly with climatic information essential for human activity such as, rain intensity, heat stress, combating frost and climatic probabilities above and below certain thresholds. This chapter will briefly describe the relationship between climate and planning.
