Abstract

The right to health was already mentioned in Articles 27 (relating to science) and 25 (relating to health and medical care) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).1 Later international treaties refer to it in a rather vague way, as one of the rights which it is difficult to ensure (food, shelter, clothing, education, freedom of expression, participation in society, freedom of movement within one’s country and across borders, and to seek a safe haven from persecution).
