Abstract
Conventionally a sampled-data based sigma delta modulator consists of active blocks such as operational amplifiers (opamps) in the loop filter which consume the majority of the power in the modulator. It can be expected that a considerable amount of power could be saved if the active loop filter was replaced with a passive network.
