Abstract

States of muscular tension are the reflection of emotional states of mind and stress. Muscular tension, carried on in a chronic manner, may become symptomatic in itself. It is perceived by the sufferer variously as pain, muscular tightness, spasm, increased muscular fatigue and weakness. Furthermore, the condition may be unilateral or bilateral and lead to dysfunctional protective guarding which in itself can become dysfunctional in time.
