Abstract

“Webmind” could be a name for the intelligent Internet — the Web as a mind; the mind of the Web — and when I first started talking about Webmind, back in 1995, that’s basically what I meant by it. Now however, the term has taken on a life of its own: it means a particular AI system, being developed at Webmind Inc., and intended to be the world’s first thinking computer program. Webmind is intended to be a key part of the intelligent Internet, the general Web mind — but not the whole thing.
