Abstract

absolute time period: 11,000–7000 b.p. Dates between 11,200–10,200 b.p. (c.13,200–12,500 cal b.p.) were obtained for the Paleoindian subtradition from 56 radiocarbon samples of tropical fruits, nuts, and wood, three OSL dates on sediment, and 10 thermoluminescence dates on burned lithic artifacts. Five dates on charcoal from hearths give the Archaic subtradition a range of about 8000–7000 b.p.
