Abstract
Detailed ap results in the description of the several operations that are to be completed to achieve the assembly of a PV in the PF. The aim of the line layout (LL) phase is to propose a layout of the assembly system. It is important to note that this LL is not to be begun once the detailed AP has been completed, but can start at early stages of the PF structuring. Both processes interact: the PF structuring influences the LL, but can also be conditioned by available resources or by an imposed assembly strategy. The reader shall stay aware of this fact, although the different design tools have been presented sequentially.
