Abstract

Chapter Objectives: Management tools based on the AMBIT approach should be learning tools. In the design of an AMBIT software toolset, it is important to ensure that management learning is facilitated through the use of the tool. Thus, in this chapter we look at the theory of learning and that of creativity, and their impact on user interaction with IT tools. These areas need to be examined in order to develop an approach to the design of a Graphical User Interface (GUI), which is an integral part of any managerial learning tool. Having read this chapter, the reader should become familiar with:
  • • The importance of the graphical user interface (GUI).

  • • The Kolbian learning model and the learning style personalities arising from the four approaches to learning.

  • • The need to design the AMBIT approach based tool such that it operates within the context of a computer based learning environment (CBLE).

  • • The importance of creativity and the need to cater to the enhancement of creativity in GUI design.
