In this section, a template to conceptualize and address twenty of the most frequently encountered behavioral concerns in young children is provided. Arguably, this approach may be simplistic, but it does provide a quick reference for the practitioner. It is not meant to be exhaustive, nor does it portray detailed treatment programs such as those indicated in the previous chapter; rather this chapter is designed to offer general considerations that may be expanded upon, using the approaches mentioned previously. As was indicated in the preceding chapter, each problem behavior has its unique, as well as shared components, and this template approach is not meant to be exhaustive. Some behavioral concerns actually meet the criteria for a “disorder.”
