Abstract

Discrepancies between experiment and theory have long been problems in the study of H +3 dissociative recombination. (See Ref.’s 1 and 2 for recent theoretical works). The discovery of H +3 in the diffuse interstellar medium has brought a renewed interest to this problem, because it suggests a lower rate constant than the experimentally derived values.3 In order to shed light on this complicated situation, it is necessary to carry out more detailed studies about the reaction mechanism. Our aim is to provide theoretical information about the dynamics of this process.
