Abstract

The value of coupling mobility with Internet access is significant. For the Internet to support global transparent mobility, any future protocol for mobility management should accommodate roaming among different sub-networks and different media types. Since none of the present technologies addresses this requirement adequately, significant efforts are presently underway to develop a comprehensive solution for transparent mobility. One such effort is the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) [39]. We will compare CDPD with Mobile IP to find out which of these technologies will have an advantage.
