Abstract
The case histories of rival leagues presented in the previous two chapters are critical to understanding the nature of competition and competiveness in the major professional sport industry. These histories raise several important questions:

Another potential factor in this particular case was the NFL’s apparently slow recognition of the significant increase in demand for football caused by the 1958, sudden-death overtime, Colts-Giants NFL championship game, the first championship game to be televised.
