Abstract
This chapter will describe curriculum-based evaluation (CBE), its philosophical background, and its assumptions. The chapter also provides an overview of the development of reading and two conceptual frameworks: the review, interview, observation, and testing (RIOT)/instruction, curriculum, environment, and learner (ICEL) assessment framework and the Instructional Hierarchy (IH).
