Diseases of the Liver in Children

Abstract

In the past half century, liver transplantation has become the standard of care not only for children with end-stage liver disease but also for children with metabolic diseases manifested largely outside of the liver. Significant improvements have been made in patient and graft survival, such that 1-year survival for children following liver transplantation is greater than 90 %.
