Abstract
While rare, parathyroid tumors in children occur in the form of sporadic adenomas or parathyroid hyperplasia, often in the setting of syndromic endocrinopathies. While simple parathyroid adenoma resection is appropriate for these sporadic entities, close attention to clinical history and laboratory parameters can help determine the best course of action in hyperparathyroidism. In most cases, a full neck exploration with subtotal (3½ gland) parathyroidectomy is recommended.
