Pulmonary Edema Following Attempted Nasal Intubation for Mandibular Fracture Repair

  • Zakir Rangwala

A patient presents with a mandibular fracture requiring nasal intubation for surgical correction. Multiple attempts at securing the difficult airway led to edema and eventual laryngospasm and negative pressure pulmonary edema (NPPE). Topics discussed include nasal intubation techniques and the mechanism and treatment of pulmonary edema.
