Clinical, Radiologic, and Technical Considerations

Intraoperative cytology consultation in neuropathology is a process that must be preceded by adequate clinical and radiologic evaluation. An adequate sample requires an adequate squash/smear preparation technique, and adequate H&E or Papanicolaou and Romanowsky stains.
