Abstract

Chemical peels are a time-tested procedure used to improve photoaging and rhytids. They are classified according to the depth of skin wounding produced: superficial, medium, and deep. Careful skin analysis patient selection will help tailor the treatment depth of the peel to the desired results. The combination Jessner’s solution and trichloroacetic acid peel is a safe, effective peel in the periorbital area. Proper pretreatment of the skin and posttreatment care are paramount to avoid complications. A thorough understanding of the chemical agents and their effects on the skin is necessary for successful outcomes.
