Non-Binding Peer Evaluation within an Area of Freedom, Security and Justice

  • Stine Andersen

This chapter is concerned with member state peer review within the area of freedom, security and justice (AFSJ) and more specifically with Article 70 TFEU from an enforcement perspective. According to this legal basis, the Council may, on a proposal from the Commission, adopt measures laying down arrangements whereby member states conduct objective and impartial evaluation of the implementation of the Union policies pertaining to the AFSJ (in this chapter also referred to as peer review).
