Parathyroid Hormone and Calcitonin

Abstract

The early history of the endocrinology of the parathyroid gland, like its location in the body and its blood circulation, is intertwined with that of the thyroid gland. More recently discrimination between the functions of these two glands played an important role in the history of calcitonin.
