Abstract
With increasing frequency, neuroendovascular specialists are called upon to consult on and treat complex cerebral AVMs in a systematized, comprehensive, and decisive fashion, often demonstrating a sophistication and expertise in the interrelated medical and surgical management of these dynamic neurosurgical entities.
This chapter endeavors to review the fundamental elements of AVM structural anatomy, pathophysiology, natural history, interventional management, and medical supportive treatment through review of several case examples – both adult and pediatric – highlighting a systematized and integrated multidisciplinary approach of which interventional therapy is only one arm.
