History of the Crust of the Moon

The history of the Moon is presented in the form of a series of topographic maps (DEMs) as the shape of the Moon is established. The history presented here follows the outline and content of “The Geologic History of the Moon” (Wilhelms 1987) with additions arising from concepts developed within the past decade. These include the algorithmic model of impact features developed in previous chapters of this book, the re-examination of the large craters and basins described in  Chap. 4, and newly discovered features described in  Chap. 5. These new features, the NSM and others, were found in the course of deconstructing the topography to create the comprehensive topographic model of  Chap. 5.
