Abstract
Our ninth observation continues our journey through the stars. To begin with, it is straightforward – we are going to find the brightest star in the night sky. But don’t let the ease of finding it lull you into thinking that Sirius is nothing much. It is the gateway to a fascinating night under the sky and takes us from the brightest star to invisible companions, by way of an accurate measurement of the extent of the sky.
