Assessment of Disruptive Behavior Disorders in Anxiety

Abstract

A substantial proportion of children with anxiety disorders have comorbid or secondary disruptive behavior problems. Assessing these conditions, and determining the boundaries of disruptive behavior from anxiety, is necessary for comprehensive treatment implementation. This chapter reviews the major approaches for assessing disruptive behavior disorders including clinical structured and semi-structured interviews, rating scales, functional analysis, and behavioral observations. An illustrative case study is presented highlighting the methods described.
