Management of Soft Tissue Sarcoma

Abstract

Vascular tumors run the gamut from benign hemangiomas to intermediate grade of malignancy epithelioid hemangioendotheliomas, to highly aggressive angiosarcomas. We refrain in this section in discerning vascular sarcomas from similar tumors arising from lymphatics (lymphangiosarcomas) as there have not been good markers to definitively separate the two forms of tumors. Nonetheless, there is reason to believe VEGFR3 (also termed FLT4) is a good marker for lymphatics and lack of it leads to a congenital form of lymphedema (Milroy disease) [1, 2].
