For purposes of this discussion, we focus on gender, cultural, and ethnic diversity. The authors acknowledge that diversity can be defined using “the entire spectrum of human differences” (Jayne & Dipboye, p. 410) including age, sexual orientation, level of education, physical and/or mental disability, physical appearance, political affiliation, marital status, organizational tenure, job class, personality, socioeconomic status, religious beliefs, or any other characteristic or attribute that differentiates one individual or group from another.
