Selective Quality Routing Algorithm Based on Dynamic Programming in Wireless Mesh Networks

Abstract

The routing technology in wireless mesh networks is to find “good” path from source to destination, in which Routing algorithm plays an important role, when the routing metric has been determined. However, the routing paths establishing through the routing discovery process in many existing routing protocols don’t mean the best solution, which will eventually deteriorate network performance. In this paper, we propose a dynamic programming algorithm to solve the routing optimization problem. Additionally, in consideration of the delay-sensitive multimedia services and network throughput, a new Selective Quality Routing Metric (SQRM) based on the information of MAC layer is given. Then, the thesis presents in detail Selective Quality Routing Algorithm (SQRA) synthesized the proposing algorithm and new metric. In the end, the paper concludes with a discussion of the algorithm performance evaluation and future research directions.
