Abstract
This chapter presents some interesting cases encompassing some of the psychosocial aspects regarding reoperative surgery, specifically in the traumatic situation. As reviewed in the first chapter, reoperative surgery does require more counseling, time, and patience in explaining and discussing options with the injured patient. This chapter, in developing some cases, allows the reader to understand more fully some of the personal issues affecting these patients; and how in some cases further surgery or reoperative surgery may not be in the patient’s best interest. This chapter serves to hopefully further hone the reoperative surgeon’s judgment skills in discerning who may and may not benefit from more surgery.
