Abstract
The mixing action that occurs in a nonlinear capacitor, subject of discussion in Chap. 2, can be used to transfer energy from a pump source to the signal of interest, thus enabling the implementation of amplifiers without requiring transconductance based configurations. In the resulting circuitry, one or more tanks are used to filter or to act as temporary energy storage element (e.g., the idler block). Usually, the design of these tanks includes inductors which are needed to achieve resonance modes.
