Abstract

In this work, we presented empirical data that show that on a particular task there are cases where using an MDP model provides the best solution, while in other cases a BDI approach works best—as the task grows in size beyond the range of problems that can be optimally solved using an MDP, the BDI approach outperforms the best one can do with an MDP. This suggests that some aspects of the BDI approach may be worth considering in more detail. Here we provide some of that detail.
