Abstract

While software engineering traditionally has been concerned mostly with the development of individual components, there has been a paradigm shift during the past decades. Assembling applications from existing components and integrating applications to complex systems has become more important with a growing number of existing artifacts. In the future, application integration on the user interface level will drastically reduce development efforts and create customizable, seamlessly integrated systems. However, currently existing approaches and frameworks are still not capable of fully harvesting the benefits of this new style of system development.
