Bowel Reconstruction Following Low Anterior Resection
- 1.1k Downloads
A low anterior resection using the total mesorectal excision (TME) approach is usually performed for low and mid rectal tumors. Patients may suffer from difficult evacuation difficulties following low anterior resection – or post anterior resection syndrome – and are more evident following a straight coloanal anastomosis (SCA). This syndrome has been reported in up to 60% of patients.
