Abstract
Before we embark on our journey through the universe, we need to have a look at our preparation. Like on a real journey, certain steps are primordial for the success of the trip. In this chapter, we’ll have a look at our roadmaps, destinations, luggage, and the kind of vehicle we want to use to navigate the stars (Fig. 1.1). All this may sound complicated, but it should not. With a few adequate measures, our voyage into deep space is quite straightforward. Let’s first have a look at the wonders of the universe visible to us on a clear night.
