Abstract
The previous chapter provided an informal introduction to concepts that are necessary for stochastic modeling. So the readers who are happy with that material may skip this chapter on first reading and return to it when needed in the later chapters. It has been added as background necessary for an advanced understanding of the subsequent chapters. The books by Breuer and Petruccione [18] and Allen [5] were the main inspirations for this chapter.
