Abstract

Frequent and disabling migraines should be treated with preventive therapies, whether pharmacologic or natural supplements. Many options are available, and treatment should be tailored to consideration of each patient’s comorbidities. It is trial and error finding the most effective drug with the least amount of side effects for each patient. Successful treatment will decrease disability and improve quality of life for the patient. This chapter lists the preventive medications with instructions on how to administer them, along with careful consideration of adverse effects.
