Learning: Verbal Learning, Mnemonics, Transfer
Our emphasis shifts in this chapter from nonverbal learning to verbal learning. The traditional tasks employed in verbal-learning research, both basic and gerontological, have been those of paired-associate learning and serial learning. In addition to reviewing aging research on these tasks, we will also review aging research in the related areas of mnemonics and transfer.
