“Your child has Down syndrome,” is, for many parents, the start of a long search for knowledge, guidance, and support that will improve the quality of life for their child. Over time, this search often leads them to a variety of intervention programs, some of which are termed “alternative therapies.” Too often, standard medical practice offers parents little information regarding the etiology of this syndrome, and, for some parents, the frustration that follows becomes a driving force in their efforts to obtain a solution to the medical and development problems of their child.
