The presence of glial tissue on the optic nerve head constitutes the condition commonly known as Bergmeister’s papilla, also known as an epipapillary veil. The glial tissue often fills in the optic cup such that the cup is obliterated. The nasal disc appears to be more involved with the glial tissue than is the temporal disc.
